WebP
Remove metadata from WebP files
WebP is Google's modern image format — smaller files, same privacy leak. It stores EXIF and XMP inside its VP8X container chunk, plus an ICC color profile. A WebP exported from Lightroom or an online converter can carry your full shooting data and GPS location, just like a JPEG.

Questions, answered
Is WebP metadata the same as JPEG's?
Structurally very similar — WebP embeds a standard EXIF blob, so the same camera settings and location data that leak from JPEGs leak from WebPs too.
Does stripping affect transparency or animation?
No. Only metadata chunks are removed. The image data, alpha channel and animation frames are preserved exactly.
Why does my exported WebP still have metadata?
Most editors preserve metadata on export by default. Stripping after export — right here — is the reliable fix.
