What gets removed

Questions, answered

Do GIFs really have metadata?

Yes. Comment blocks and XMP packets are valid in GIF89a, and editors like Photoshop write them. They're invisible in playback — but trivially readable in the file.

Will my animation still loop?

Perfectly. Frame data, delays and loop counts are image data, not metadata — they're preserved exactly as they were.

What about the color palette?

Untouched. Only descriptive metadata is stripped; the global and local color tables stay identical.
