HEIC
Remove metadata from HEIC files
HEIC has been the iPhone's default photo format since iOS 11 — and most people don't even realize their photos aren't JPEGs anymore. It stores EXIF and XMP inside its ISOBMFF box structure, including precise GPS coordinates. Every HEIC you AirDrop or upload can silently log exactly where you were standing.

Questions, answered
Can browsers even read HEIC metadata?
Most browsers can't display HEIC images at all — but the metadata is still in the file when you share it, and Apple devices, Windows and editors read it fully. The leak doesn't need a browser to happen.
Does converting HEIC to JPEG remove metadata?
Often not — converters frequently carry EXIF across to the new file. Strip the HEIC first with PureClear, then convert if you need to.
Will the file still open on my iPhone after stripping?
Yes. The HEVC image data is untouched — only metadata boxes are cleared, so the file remains a perfectly valid HEIC.
